Explore the desert area by signing up for our best-selling Merzouga desert 4×4 adventure. The day excursion around the majestic sand dunes of Erg Chebbi consists of learning about the local traditional system of irrigation known as “Khettaras”, which is a sophisticated system consisting of conveying water from afar to the oasis by digging wells and interconnecting them with an underground channel.
Pass by the Merzouga Village, which is nestled by the feet of the giant sand dune before continuing on the track to Khamlia. This unique village is resided predominantly by immigrants with dark complexion brought as slaves from the sub-Saharan Lands. They are known for the “Gnawa Music”, which, is a spiritual music they perform using drums & castanets, to guest-visitors as a way to make a living.
Later, we will visit the Mifis mines from where you can enjoy the breathtaking views that the sand dunes offer. Have a complete tour around the dunes following the former Paris Dakar rail before arriving to a nomad family that lives in a tent, and from whom you will learn about thier unique style of life.

The Hamadas “desert plateaux” or the black desert surrounding the dunes along with the palm oasis of Merzouga and Hasi Labied Village are all form a unique pictures, which deserves one’s exploration.
